TFCF Philippines: Siargao Island Community Shop

2024/01/22

In 2021, Siargao Island was hit by a typhoon, but as time passed, the island gradually recovered its vitality. Starting in 2022, the TFCF Philippines collaborated with the local Espoir Elementary School to implement livelihood improvement programs in the Gawad Kalinga village on the island. The program provides intensive skills training for parents to enhance their household income through their expertise. Recently, the village's "Community Shop" and "Community Bakery" have started operating, selling handmade items by the parents, such as tablecloths, handmade soaps, patchwork bags, coconut placemats, and more. These products have received positive feedback for their quality and have become popular among tourists visiting the island. In the future, more practical items will be introduced, so stay tuned!
